PD1 - Building Truly Portable Database Applications in PHP
Detailed information about the quirks in most of the major database systems and ways to deal with them. This session will cover PEAR DB and MDB2 plus other tools so you can write PHP programs that can be run on nearly any database management system.
PD2 - Objektrelationales Mapping mit PHP 5 und Propel
Propel ist eine Lösung für die Abbildung von PHP-Klassen in einer relationalen Datenbank, die zum einen das Speichern von PHP-Objekten und zum anderen die Kapselung von Datenbankinhalten durch PHP-Objekte ermöglicht. Dieser Vortrag gibt eine Einführung in die Programmierung von Datenbankanwendungen mit PHP 5, bei der der Entwickler kein SQL und weniger PHP "von Hand" schreiben muss.
PD3 - 100,000 SQLite Installations – Lessons Learned
Creating a PHP/MySQL based Web shop that is available through a combination of InstallAnywhere, Microweb and SQLite for CD. We will explore the reasons why SQLite was chosen, what difficulties we explored when converting the MySQL database to SQLite and how we handled more than 100,000 installations in an European rollout of this Web shop in the wild. Future outlook will go to a PHP-in-a-box.exe.
PD4 - Fast, Portable, SQL – Part I
The aim of this talk is to provide ideas and hints on how to write portable, yet fast, SQL. The first session will begin by establishing what the SQL standard is as well how to measure performance. Following we will look how databases store data and what choices affect performance. Moving on we will discuss how to speed up simple searches. Finally we will examine how to optimize sorting and aggregations.
PD5 - Fast, Portable, SQL – Part II
The aim of this talk is to provide ideas and hints on how to write portable, yet fast, SQL. The second session continues where the previous session has left off by discussing performance factors in joins and subqueries followed up by a look at indexes and contraints. After this we will cover data changes. Towards the end we will dive into locking and how database optimizers work.
PD6 - Java and PHP in the Enterprise
