GDPR has brought privacy & security into the spotlight, but it’s still not obvious to developers how to make this part of everyday development. Privacy by design provides a broad set of principles aiming to alter the traditional development mindset into one which embraces privacy at all levels; The 2020 collapse of Privacy Shield makes this all the more important. Modern tools are great at automation, but how can we use them to build auditable privacy into our projects in the same way that we handle documentation and testing?
This talk introduces the seven foundational principles of privacy by design, what GDPR means (and does not), whether you really need cookie banners, what your obligations to your users really are, and how we can make privacy part of everyday development.
